CLOCK CLEANING TIME FOR BEN BUT A HEAD FOR HEIGHTS A MUST (2014)

Big Ben is one of the world's most famous icons and as such it cannot be allowed to look a little grubby. To keep the clock faces, all four of the delicate glass fascias spick 'n' span a drilled team of experts are tasked once every few years to attack the grime. As can be gleaned from my pic it helps if you don't suffer too much with vertigo and also are adept at abseiling. The guys are all wearing coordinated colours and I'm glad they wear something red as it helps them stand out while hanging from a fearful height

London's Big Ben or its clock face is cleaned by four men dangling precariously from ropes
