A MERMAID AND HER CHILDREN SWIMMING WITH DOLPHINS IN LONDON (2009)
the two fountains in Trafalgar Square were not originally designed with mythical creatures and dolphin sculptures in mind. They were in fact built for a more ugly reason and that was to minimise the impact of and have less space for demonstrations and riots. For over a hundred years the fountains in Trafalgar Square remained creatureless until the unveiling in 1948 of the bronze creations from McMillan and Wheeler. In the photo below even though the weather is sub-zero the Mermaid, her brood and some dolphins still want to play
