TWO LONDON UNDERGROUND CARRIAGES PUT OUT TO PASTURE (2008)
this image taken back in 2008 was in an area choc-a-bloc with pretty young things and creatives i.e. trendy London. Street art abounds on buildings around this part of east London though as the rents rise - as they inevitably do all over London, some postcodes become too expensive to live and work so some creatives out of necessity have to move to other poorer parts of the city and so the trendification begins once more. The image below shows two london tube train carriages side by side and above ground instead of below where they usually flourish. One carriage has had a trippy makeover in pink white and red. A black and white version of this image won me a second or third prize in a competition run by Transport for London (TFL) on Yahoo's Flickr for which I was extremely grateful because the prize was (If my memory is working correctly) cash which is always needed. I did bombard the competition page with many photographic submissions and I believe the theme was hidden London and bicycles so why this won a prize I can only assume was because I beat TFL into submission until they felt obliged to award me something. Whatever works! Forgot to mention that also in this pic is an advert featuring one of the later incarnations of the female group the Sugababes
