AI WEI WEI 'CIRCLE OF ANIMALS/ZODIAC HEADS' SCULPTURES (May 12th-June 16th 2011)
the twelve animal heads arranged uniformly within the pretty courtyard of Somerset House are not trophy prizes from disgusting hunts around the globe but are bronze sculptures from acclaimed Chinese artist Ai WeiWei. The twelve heads are Mr WeiWei's first major public art project and form the centrepiece(s) of a world tour which began in New York in at the Pulitzer fountain, Grand Army Plaza and arrived on our shores at Somerset House in London - scene of many an art exhibition, fashion show and outdoor cinema for a temporary stay between May 12th and June 16th. The animal head bronzes are in alphabeticala order: Cockerel, Dog, Dragon, Goat, Horse, Monkey, Ox, Pig, Rabbit, Rooster, Snake, Tiger
