BICYCLE RACKS (2015)

cycling is on the increase across London and the reasons vary for this but I would say a major part of its growth is the exhorbitant costs of public transport. It helps that roads are gradually becoming more cycle friendly though this has never been a problem for me as I've been mixing with cars, motorbikes and lorries for over thirty years - well before the cycling boom we currently are seeing and proliferation of small cycling shops offering sales and repairs. Bicycle racks are also proliferating outside places of work, supermarkets and train stations and the ones below are the exception in that they're almost industrial scale. I was accosted (politely) by two of the staff working around this area who asked why I was taking photos and telling me it was not allowed. I explained about this web, pointing to the rear of my bicycle which was leaning on a railing about twenty metres away but unsure if they understood what I was pointing to. I wasn't asked to delete any photos already taken and accepted the explanation given why photographing was not allowed and was soon on my way with at least a few photos of these large scale and essential bike racks
